Do you feel extremely terrified and anxious in the dental chair? If so, we are here to help you with sedation dentistry!

Sedation dentistry is a great dental element that helps patients relax and stay calm while they are in the hands of the dentist. With the advancements in the dental world today, patients can proceed through treatment without being worried or nervous. There are many dental sedatives available that do so, but the most common dental sedatives include:

Oral Sedation: Oral sedation comes in the form of a pill. Generally, you will take the pill about an hour before your appointment and you will begin to feel a bit drowsy and relaxed. Some people become so groggy that they fall asleep during their treatment. If you do fall asleep, we will wake you up with a gentle shake once the treatment is over. This sedative is similar to Valium and it will help you get through your treatment in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation: Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a sedative that is inhaled through the nose. When you come into our office, your dentist will place a small mask over your nose and will ask you to deeply inhale for a few minutes. As time passes, you will begin to feel tingly and light headed. Once the treatment is over, your dentist will remove the mask and the sedative will wear off in a short amount of time, allowing you to drive yourself home.
