Does Your Child Have Weak Enamel? Try These Tips

Posted .

Having weak enamel can be dangerous for the smile. This is because the enamel is a tough shell that protects the teeth. If it’s compromised, there is a chance the smile could experience dental issues. If your child has weak enamel, it’s important to do what you can to fix it. Our dentist, Dr. R. Nab, is happy to help you do so.

First, you should let fluoride strengthen and nourish the teeth. Fluoride is a natural mineral that dives into the teeth and helps the enamel. So, it’s best to expose your child’s teeth to fluoride throughout the day. You can do so by having them brush with fluoride toothpaste twice a day (if their chompers are old enough to handle fluoride), giving them fluoridated water from the tap (your city should fluoridate your water for you), and by bringing them into our office for a professional fluoride treatment twice a year.

In order to prevent this from happening again, it’s important to avoid giving your child acidic foods and beverages, give them a professional fluoride treatment at our office every six months, and continually expose their little teeth to fluoride each day (you can do so by using the tips mentioned before).
