At Midtown Dental, Dr. R. Nab and our team are pleased to provide our patients with their smiles in Houston, Texas. We are especially excited to offer the Invisalign® system for our patients seeking straighter smiles.

So, what is the Invisalign system? It is a discreet way to align your smile by using clear aligner trays. These clear plastic aligner trays are worn for 20-22 hours each day so that they can shift the teeth into their desired position. Let’s take a look at how wearing Invisalign aligners affect your smile!

Cleaning your smile: Cleaning your teeth with Invisalign couldn’t be easier! There are no brackets and wires for you to clean, so all you have to do is remove the aligners and clean your teeth as usual. You can maintain your excellent oral hygiene habits of brushing and flossing daily to keep away tooth decay and gum disease.

Cleaning your aligners: Cleaning your aligners means removing the trays from your mouth, brushing them gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush and rinsing them well in warm water–avoid using hot water as it can warp the material. You can also clean them with an Invisalign cleaning kit.

Eating: Eating while straightening your smile with Invisalign is easy as ever since you remove the aligners to eat. What does this mean for you? No dietary restrictions which do have with braces. In fact, you will still be able to eat your favorite foods and without worrying about food particles becoming trapped in between brackets and wires.

Sports: For those patients who are active in sports, the aligners won’t cut your soft oral tissue while participating. In addition, if you are required to wear a mouthguard, you simply remove the aligners while you wear your athletic guard. You will want to put the aligners back in as soon as you are able to make sure you are wearing them 20-22 hours a day.

Bedtime: Another benefit of wearing Invisalign is that you simply clean your teeth and rinse your aligners and that’s it! You are ready for the night.
